CONCERTS AND LEC-DEMS
Sampradaya organizes public concerts, but always with a difference. It features not only the stars, but also those who though not often heard in concert circuits for one reason or the other, have something artistically valuable to offer. The concerts invariably have a theme, a particular significance beyond the conduct of the concert itself: for instance, rare compositions of a composer or compositions in rare raga-s and so on.

A special course on Tavil Repertoire had twenty eminent artists participating.  The week long course had stalwarts in Tavil like Sri Govindaran , Sri B.M.Sundaram, Sri T.K.Murthy[as resource persons.

Likewise the exclusive and unique Oduvar [Hymn –singers in temples]Workshop saw nearly hundred Oduvars from all over temples of South India in active participation. It was funded by I.G.N.C.A New Delhi as part of Sampradaya’s documentation on Devotional Music.

The Mridangam -Project[ A series of Lec –dems by leading exponents of Mridangam conducted a couple of years back] and the recently covered Rag a-Vision Lec -dems by eminent violin Maestro SriT.N.Krishnan are Sampradaya’s untiring efforts to add to the body of knowledge being archived for the benefit of the entire Music Fraternity.

Ragam-Tanam Pallavi is the most sophisticated and complex compositional and improvisational genre in Carnatic Music. The traditional theory and practice of this theory and practice of this compositional genre dates back to very early period of this millennium and has come down to this present days as crystallized form containing the highest and most exacting natures of ‘sahitya’---Textual structure, ‘manodharma’[improvisational forms such as raga alapana, tanam, niraval and laya[rhythm] A true-de-force of Carnatic Music ,it has no parallel in any other system of music.

Sampradaya organized a special documentation series on ‘’Ragam-Thanam-Pallavi to capture both the beauty and intellectual depths of this compositional genre through the expositions and explanations of twelve very eminent musicians who have specialized this form. The series had been designed in such a manner to highlight the salient features of six traditions of pallavi singing that exist today.
